posted on January 30th, 2009 by Manny Lopes| The "Munich Haus, Restarant and Lounge" is a great destination if your traveling in Western MA. Located in The City of Chicopee's Historic Downtown area. It's easily accessible from Rt 91 and Rt 90.
I decided to stop in for lunch while in the area on this cold winter day. I was by myself so I decided to sit at the large rectangular bar which is easily accessible from the front door. It was right before the lunch crowd started coming in so I had a good choice of seating. I was immediately taken care of by Dan, the bartender, who I learned has been there since the Munich Haus opened it's doors. I decided I'd order a German beer as they have a great variety on tap. I ordered a ERDINGER HEFE WEISSE, it was served well chilled with a lemon wedge on the rim. They also have a great selection of local brewed beer & German & domestic wines.
As I sipped my beer & pondered the menu, I enjoyed watching the people as they ate & conversed seated in the pub style tables along the wall in the bar area. They also have a very large restaurant with seating... Posted in Reviews & Recomendations | 13 Comments » |

LUDLOW - Manuel Lopes is cooking up something special on Ludlow cable public access television.
And the secret ingredient is really no secret at all. His new TV show, "Cooking With Dad," features three of his children - Franc, 26, Jaclyn, 22, and Thom, 20. Together, they offer some of their family's favorite Porgtuguese recipes.
Lopes, who immigrated from Portugal with his parents when he was 6 years old, said his family has always cooked together.
In the 1970s and 1980s, his parents ran the Portuguese restaurant, Caravela, on State Street. Lopes said he was one of the cooks there.
While the eatery has since closed, Lopes said he has continued to cook with his children.
"They have all enjoyed cooking with me," he said.
Cooking is the centerpiece of Portuguese family get-togethers, Lopes noted.
"My mother is a great cook, and passed on the family recipes," he said.
Lopes said his mother, Lucia Lopes, also is featured in some of the cooking shows. "These are her recipes we're using," he said.
He said the show is a vehicle for showing another generation how to cook.
"My children all made themselves available to film the cooking," he said.
